2. Cookies

  • Cookies are small data packets used for identification that our webserver sends to your browser and that your computer – depending on the settings – stores and sends back to us later. So called session-cookies are deleted when the browser is closed (after the “session”).

3. Matomo

Our website uses the analysis service Matomo (formerly known as Piwik). Matomo is an open-source-software for statistical analysis of visitor accesses. By using Matomo we can know how our website is used. Hereby we have the chance to continuously improve the quality of our website and its contents. Using Matomo we cannot relate to a specific person as your IP-address is anonymized. The information created about the use of our website is not transferred to third-parties.   • Contact form – e-mail tracking: E-mails sent to you in the course of contacting us contain a so-called pixel, which is retrieved from our server or, if we use a service provider, from their server when it is opened. In the course of this retrieval, technical information, such as information on the browser and your system, as well as your IP address and the time of the retrieval are initially collected. This information is used for the technical improvement of the services on the basis of the technical data or the target groups and their reading behaviour on the basis of their retrieval locations (which can be determined with the help of the IP address) or the access times. The statistical surveys also include the determination of whether the e-mail was opened. For technical reasons, this information is assigned to the individual recipients. However, it is neither our intention nor, if used, that of the service provider to monitor individual users. The analyses serve us much more to improve communication with you.
  • Data transfer to the USA: Due to the ECJ (ruling of 16.07.2020, ref.: C-311/18 (“Schrems II”)), there is no adequate level of data protection in the USA. Furthermore, government surveillance measures may occur in the USA, where no sufficient legal protection can be claimed against these measures. When you contact us this may lead to the processing of personal data by us. This can be the case when you send us an e-mail, because in such instance we learn your e-mail address and name and are thus processing your data. A processing of personal data occurs as well, when you interact with us personally, e.g. by handing over a business card.

7. Wordfence Security

The “Wordfence Security” service, which is operated by Defiant Inc, 800 5th Ave., Suite 4100, Seattle, WA 98104, USA, is used to secure our online offering. The use is based on our legitimate interests within the meaning of Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f) DSGVO

The website uses the plug-in to protect against viruses and malware and to ward off attacks by computer criminals. In order to recognize whether the visitor is a human or a robot, the plug-in sets cookies. For the purpose of protection against brute force and DDoS attacks or comment spam, IP addresses are stored on the Wordfence servers. IP addresses classified as harmless are placed on a whitelist. Wordfence Security secures our website and protects visitors from viruses and malware. This represents a legitimate interest in the sense of Art. 6 Par. 1 lit. f DSGVO. The Live Traffic View option (real-time live traffic) of the plug-in is switched off, as it is not mandatory.
